Have you recently found yourself at the cusp of a mental breakdown or at the center of one?
Do you find yourself struggling to keep your emotions in check? Do you feel yourself crumbling under the weight of your “responsibilities” as a woman in the position of an employee, a partner, or just as a human who is trying to exist? If one or all these questions are issues you can relate with, you are experiencing classic indications of emotional health neglect.
For centuries, black women have been groomed to neglect their emotional health. We are fed with classic anecdotes like, “be strong,” “no pain, no gain” and so on. This has mentally conditioned us to regard emotions as soft distractions that somehow make us less of who we are. And this has led to the birth of a generation of women who are so broken and damaged that we believe the relationships we cultivate should function in two settings only; ride or die.
Well, no more of that. It is time to take total control of your life by changing the narrative to fit your version of events and your first step on that journey is with this book, Emotional Self-Care for Black Women.
The attitude we have towards our emotional health has kept us in the way of our own success, causing us to doubt our potential, question our initiatives, and even self-sabotage our upward journey as we progress in various fields in life.
In this book you will:Learn the value, impact, and importance of emotional health in your day-to-day life.Understand what the core aspects of emotional self-care are and how to apply yourself when it comes to managing your emotional health.Unlearn negative “truths” that have defined your actions and reprogram yourself with the right messaging that will transform your experience as a black woman in today’s world.Discover the key to cultivating healthy relationships with the right people and the power behind letting go of toxic circumstances even when your inner critic might be responsible for creating the toxicity within.Free yourself from the burden of the past by understanding how to embrace the lessons learned from failures and mistakes and converting those lessons into the pillars for your next successful adventure. And so much more…
Life is a lot brighter and more exciting when your emotional health is prioritized and consistently catered to. And the fact is, you deserve all the happiness and success that you seek in this world. But sometimes, you need to create the right conditions on the inside to build the life you want on the outside and your first step to accomplishing that is purchasing this book and turning this page over.
So if you’re ready to start your transformation, grab this book today.

I bought this as a birthday gift for a co-worker who is also pursuing college studies in business. I don’t want her to burn out! She was very touched, and said the book is “beautiful.”

self care
This book addresses so many thoughts we have as black women. It reiterates that I’m not alone in how I’ve felt or thought about this book definitely provides the tools to tackle and getting to a better version of me!

Engaging read…
The thing that stood out most for me in this book, is the myth that Black women are supposed to put the needs of others before themselves. Every woman needs selfcare and shouldn’t be expected to carry the baggage of others when dealing with their own stuff. This was a very insightful book. I will say that I found some of the things generalized. Still, I’d recommend the book, for anyone who would like affirmations, or to anyone looking into insights about Black women and the things they have gone through and have to deal with.

Sound advice for anyone, really!
I thoroughly enjoyed this read! I almost want to close all of the shades and turn-off the lights because the author is clearly looking into my life! I appreciated the focus on how we, women in general, are nurturers by nature, and this can sometimes lead to getting the scraps at the end of the day because all of our energies and focus were on others. One chapter that really resonated with me referenced being vulnerable. There’s something to be said about the unintended consequence of being raised as a, “strong, independent woman”, to the point it’s almost a back-handed insult. The author discusses breaking out of this cold, shell-like exterior and unveil the softness inside. Softness inside does not equate to weakness! The chapters on emotional health and self care were spot on, but I definitely enjoyed the action steps to unveil who I am to others as well as to myself. I would definitely recommend this to some of my girlfriends!

Emotional Self Care Importance
I teach the Women’s Sunday School Class at my Church. We started this book at a time when emotions were running high all over the world. This book was a blessing to teach and a blessing to be taught so many things, most importantly, that it is ok to feel what you feel, because it is real, and that is the way God created us.Amen!Rev. Black women must read!
I have gifted this book to my daughter and friends. It will help you mentally, especially if you’re stuck and can’t move forward, it will make you jump hurdles. I could not put it down, I finished it quickly. It was a blessing! I wish I would have read it 40 years ago, but NO one cared about our mental health, a Black counselor, author is key whiling surrounded by false Stereotypes and image’s of us; seek people that understand, others will try to medicate you. There wasn’t a lot of help to make the black women whole, like it is now, so let’s get healthy together and build an even stronger community, leaving noone behind. And, this book is a great start!

A must read for those struggling with self love
Wow. I love the concept of Emotional Self-Care. This book breaks it down the concept into 3 core layers. In fact each chapter has 3 main concepts to help you become aware, process, and then action- such as to attain emotional balance- you need to confront your fears, take down those emotional walls, and be vulnerable. In dealing with emotional self care as a black female therapist, I love how the author approaches racism and how we have to be bold and purposeful in finding our place in society and make sure that build the a positive circle around us. Furthermore we need to not live for ourselves. Lastly I appreciate the author supporting counseling as a way to help Black Women have self care for their emotional needs.
